Any ideas what causing it?

The higher you rev it the worse it gets. Drove it about 400 miles this weekend and had no issues like this at all. Start it up this morning and it sounds horrible.

something that is belt driven. Alternator, power steering pump, ac.

to me sounds like PS. Does it change when your moving or turning?

Fuel pump problems? Maybe the fuel filter is clogged and is restricting fuel flow?

Sounds like power steering to me. Maybe the pump is bad, or going bad? Did you check the fluid?

yea power steering pump usually whines when the fluid level is too low. and it will become louder when you turn

Like everyone else says, step one would be to check the power steering fluid level

Make sure all the fluids are topped up and see if that has any impact. Low power steering fluid in particular can cause a sound like that.

And as other people have said, it’s probably something belt-driven.

I would suggest putting an external mic around the belt driven accessories and see if you can isolate it.

Alternator or power steering pump.

Check the PS system for leaks and fluid loss.

Supercharger is the only answer. Sounds belt driven. Perhaps power steering, alternator?

The fact that it changes pitch with the engine speed means that whatever is making that noise is spinning. As the engine gets faster, the noise gets faster. Check your belts for wear, and see if any pulleys are wobbly. As others have pointed out, your power steering may also be running dry.
